I Loved You at Your Darkest…

cropped i loved you

What do you think of the phrase shown above? Nothing just jumps out at you does it? I am hiding something from you. Total truth will be revealed later, but for now just bear with me. Let me start out by giving you as little truth as possible concerning these words. This is how the world reveals its own kind of truth. The kind that will lead one astray from the Word of God and down the road that leads to hell. The above phrase can be assumed to be spoken by God, or by some person who decided to write it on the board at Walmart. Let’s stick with the idea of God. Every now and then God looked down upon man and felt pity for him and said, “I love you no matter how foul you are.” That is a truth. It can also be said that God looks upon man and says, “I love man no matter what condition mentally, physically, or spiritually he is in.” That is a truth. The word “darkest ” can mean many things.

But when is man at his darkest? When is man at his darkest before God? Now, no more playing around with words. No more playing around on the game board of life. No more playing around in the ideas, doctrines and evil intents of men to fool us. Let’s use one word to describe the darkness of men. SIN! Why don’t people want to hear about their sins and the condemnation caused by sin? Why does Walmart allow this to be written for thousands to see at the South Side location? Satan loves this. One may be proud that they were allowed to show these words off in public, “Because it’s Bible,” but what good are vague words without Truth?

Are these words telling the world about sin? No! These unbiblical words are making men and woman feel safe and secure in their immoral behavior. My God loves me no matter what, in any behavior I display right down to my darkest deeds. But you know what? God will love one right down to the very threshold of hell. Why? Because the one who reads these words, “I loved you at your darkest” doesn’t understand the love of God. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) <-This is a Bible verse. Not, “I loved you at your darkest.” In the latter there is no condemnation of sin, there is no truth, there is no Christ, there is no reconciliation, there is no atonement, there is no salvation.

This is the watering down of the gospel that the world is offering. This is what is taught in religion today and it is spiritually killing our youth. I hope someone went home after reading those words and looked up the passage that was on the board. I pray that they didn’t just trust what was on the board to be scripture. There is not one single “Bible” from the KJV to the Cotton Patch Version that reads, “I loved you at your darkest.” Yet millions upon millions have believed the idea of these words and have left well enough alone. God loves me as I sin and He forever will. Why? Because He sent His Son and that is the end of the story. They know this because someone told them or wrote it on a board, or posted it on the internet. This is false doctrine to the core.

Now, let us speak truth on the matter.

(Romans 5:8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God showed His love toward us. Do we have to love Him back? Is God’s love unconditional? Does one really believe that they are heaven bound if they don’t reciprocate love back toward God? Are there really going to be souls in heaven that chose not to know and obey God?

(Romans 5:9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood (How are we justified by His blood? We are washed by the blood of Christ as we are baptized into Him and our sins are washed away – Rev.1:5, Rom. 6:3-6, Acts 22:16), we shall be saved (How shall we be saved? Through obedience to the whole counsel of God – The Gospel of Christ) from wrath through him (2 Thes 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ).

When one reads God’s Word, there is no “faith only” or “grace only” system of faith. It is upon the individual to know God’s Word and to obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Man must know and man must choose. Yes, the love of God is awesome. On the cross, deity expressed the breadth, length, depth, and height of divine love. How will you respond?
