Thirteen Chapters and No Sin

(From House to House, Heart to Heart)

The Bible reveals the sins of its heroes as it does its villains. Noah got drunk and was uncovered in his tent (Genesis 9:21). Abraham lied (twice) (Genesis 12; 20). Jacob cheated his brother out of his birthright (Genesis 27:34-40). Moses struck the rock (Numbers 20:11). Eli was a bad father (1 Samuel 3:13). David committed adultery and murder (2 Samuel 11). Solomon’s wives turned his heart from God (Nehemiah 13:26). Peter denied (Matthew 26:69-75). Judas betrayed (Luke 22:48). Thomas doubted (John 20:27-29). Paul persecuted (Acts 9).

What sin did Joseph commit? Having trouble coming up with one? You are not alone.

5 things God is not

by Jack Wilkie

God is different than us. Yes, that might be the most obvious statement ever made on this site. However, it’s something we often forget because as humans we frame things according to our own understanding. But God doesn’t think like us. He doesn’t act like us. So, when we try to understand Him we have to remember that He gets to define Himself through what He has revealed about Himself.

When we don’t do that, we mischaracterize Him and mold Him into our own images of what we want Him to be. And what do we call making a god in our own image? Idolatry. Nothing could be more dishonoring to our Lord. Here are 5 common ways God is misunderstood in the world today.

Can We Understand the Bible Alike?

by Victor Eskew

The answer to this question by many is: “No.” They believe the Bible is subject to many interpretations by man. They affirm that we all read the Bible differently.

For the most part, however, most people read and understand the Bible alike. It is only in some areas that we disagree. This is easy to prove.
